STUDENT E-MAIL ACCOUNTS SWITCHED TO GMAIL ON AUG 1st
Beginning Friday, August 1, students who sign up for new
Shoreline e-mail accounts will receive accounts in a Shoreline
domain in Google's Gmail service in place of the current Outlook
e-mail system. This will provide students with a number of benefits
including 6+ gigabytes of storage space, accounts that never expire
for alumni, Google Docs (online Office-like software and storage),
and more at no charge and without advertisements. Student Government
approved of this change earlier this year.
Initially current student accounts will be left untouched and new
accounts will be created in Gmail. Shortly thereafter current
students will be given the option of moving their accounts to Gmail.
Students whose e-mail accounts are hosted on Gmail will have
accounts that look like jsmith@go.shoreline.edu. They will log into
their e-mail by browsing to go.shoreline.edu. All users of our
mail.shoreline.edu webmail (Outlook Web Access) will see a new
sidebar reminding students who signed up for accounts after August 1
to go instead to go.shoreline.edu.
Have questions? Contact Gavin Smith at gavinsmith@shoreline.edu or
206-546-4792.
