What do I do next?

You will need either a copy of your Smarter Balanced score or your high school transcript that indicates your Smarter Balanced Score (it might just say "Pass," which is equivalent to a score of 3).

Then choose one of the following options:

  • Bring a copy of your test score or transcript when you meet with an advisor to plan your classes.  If you are an online student, you can email a scanned copy to advising@shoreline.edu and schedule a virtual meeting.
  • If you are a Running Start student, you can use Smarter Balanced for placement during your application process.
  • If you are ready to register for ENGL &101, MATH &107, MATH &146, MATH 111, or MATH &141 in person, bring your completed registration form as well as a copy of your test score or transcript to the registration desk on the second floor of the FOSS (5000) Building (campus map).
  • If you are ready to register online for ENGL &101, MATH &107, MATH &146, MATH 111, or MATH &141, you can email a scanned copy of your scores or high school transcript (if it includes a Smarter Balanced score) to sccadmis@shoreline.edu, along with the following information:
    • Your full name
    • Your Student ID Number
    • Name of the course (example:  MATH 099)
    • Name of the instructor:  (example:  Bogart, S.)
    • Item number  (example:  1187)

If space is available and you have met the appropriate placement or prerequisite, you will be registered for the class based on your email request.

  • If you want to meet prerequisites for other classes using Smarter Balanced scores, please contact the relevant department.
