Missy Anderson

Veterans Coordinator

Missy Anderson comes to us from Seattle University’s Institute of Public Service where she served as the Administrative Assistant for three graduate and two undergraduate programs. Prior to moving to Seattle in 2010, Missy worked for Sacramento City College for nearly a decade, first as the Veterans Certifying Official and then as the Student Personnel Assistant in Athletics. Eager to work with veterans again, Missy accepted the position of Program Coordinator – Veterans Affairs at Shoreline Community College in January, 2014. Her goals are to provide a safe, welcoming environment for veterans and their families, and expand the existing support services that ensure student success in and out of the classroom. Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Missy enjoys spending time with family and friends, trips to the ocean, playing golf, working in her yard and volunteering with the Seattle Women’s Chorus.

 

Rosemary Whiteside

Veterans Advisor

Rosemary serves as the Academic Advisor for the Shoreline Veterans Program. Rosemary has a bachelor’s degree in Business and a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Her varied work experiences include a stint as an assistant buyer for a department store, working as a therapist in a community mental health clinic, academic advising, and for a period of time, being a full-time mom. She is married to a U.S. Navy veteran and has two daughters.

 

Sarah Pearce

Student Support Programs Program Assistant

Sarah has held many hourly positions in a variety of departments on campus. These include the Shoreline Community College Bookstore, the Dean of Students Office, and Veterans Programs. In 2013, she was hired full time as the Program Assistant in Student Support Programs. Prior to working at Shoreline Community College, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for a retirement planning company. She has lived in Seattle her whole life and loves to spend time with her dog and kitty in the beautiful Northwest. She enjoys working here full time and also taking classes online each quarter.

 

David Singleton

Shoreline Vet Corps Navigator

David has been the Shoreline Vet Corps Representative since 2016 and a student at Shoreline Community College since 2016. David is a veteran spouse, US Army. He comes from a long line of military servicemen and servicewomen, and as a military spouse, he is driven to serve those who have sacrificed for their country. He is honored to work with the military-connected students at Shoreline. He is also a coordinator who makes the Seattle Stand Down possible.

The Vet Corps Navigator program is designed to provide on-site case management and crisis intervention for military-connected students and help them access federal, state and local resources.

 

Derek Levy

Acting Associate Dean, Student Support Programs

As the Acting Associate Dean of Student Support Programs (SSP), Derek is responsible for strategic direction and daily operations for Student Support Programs, including Veterans Programs, Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD), Assessment and Testing Center, Tutoring Services, and the Community Integration and Employment Program (CIEP). Derek earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of California at Santa Cruz and Master of Arts in College Student Personnel at Bowling Green State University.   A son of a Korean War veteran, Derek is passionate about supporting military connected students and has had the opportunity to open Veteran Centers at two previous schools. Derek and his wife have three boys and numerous pets. He is also  active each spring and summer as a Little League umpire.
