Private Music Instruction Courses

To register for Private Music Instruction, please refer to the current online schedule for specific item numbers, course fees, instructor contact information. You may register for 1 or 2 credits. One credit equals 30 minutes of private instruction and 2 credits equals 50 minutes of private instruction. NOTE: Once instruction has begun, fees for private instruction are not refundable.

Music 196: Individual Instruction Instrumental

Music 180: Private Classical Piano

First year students receive one-on-one instruction on piano technique and piano literature from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary periods. Students prepare for and give public performances. Prerequisite: Reading knowledge of piano music and instructor approval. Please see Dr. Jensina Oliver or Helena Azevedo.

Music 280: Private Classical Piano

Second year students continue to receive one-on-one instruction on piano technique and piano literature from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary periods. Students prepare for and give public performances. Prerequisite: Intermediate reading knowledge of piano music and instructor approval. Please see Dr. Jensina Oliver or Helena Azevedo.

MUSC 170 and 270 Private Instruction - Classical Voice 1 and 2 - First and Second Year

Students sing in a variety of languages, prepare for and give public performances. Students receive one-on-one mentoring to nurture artistic goals and improve vocal technique. This course enables the vocal music major to transfer two years of applied study to universities, colleges, and conservatories.

MUSC 184 and MUSC 284 Private Instruction - Popular Voice 1 and 2

Students are coached to sing in a variety of popular music styles preparing them to give pubic performances. Students receive one-on-one mentoring to nurture artistic goals and improve technique. Vocal exercises safely increase stamina and range while developing stylistic skills matching their genre of choice.
